PRFM: The Glow That Keeps On Giving

Discover how PRFM uses your own growth factors to improve skin texture, brighten undereyes, support hair restoration, and enhance overall rejuvenation. This guide breaks down what PRFM is, how it works, and the top treatment areas to help you decide if it’s right for you.

PRFM treatments

With over 6 years of experience as an Aesthetic PA, PRFM is one of my favorite ways to give skin and hair a boost. It works naturally and leaves you with results that keep working long after you leave the office.

PRP, or Platelet-Rich Plasma, is a treatment that uses a small sample of your own blood, spun down to separate out the platelets and plasma. This golden plasma is rich in growth factors, which help stimulate healing, collagen production and tissue repair. PRP has been used for years in both medicine and aesthetics to improve skin quality, accelerate healing, and even support hair restoration.

PRFM, or Platelet-Rich Fibrin Matrix, takes PRP one step further. Instead of remaining in a liquid form that releases growth factors quickly, PRFM is processed into a soft gel. This gel creates a reservoir beneath the skin, gradually releasing growth factors for up to 10 days where it is placed. The benefit is longer-lasting collagen stimulation, increased tissue repair, and improvements in skin strength, dermal thickness and radiance—all with your body’s own natural healing power.

PRFM is versatile and can be used to address many different areas of the face and added to enhance several different treatments. Below, I’ll break down some of my favorite ways to utilize PRFM to harness your body’s own growth factors.

Undereyes: Brightens dark circles, thickens the delicate dermis and refreshes tired skin without any gel to migrate or cause puffiness. 3-4 treatments are recommended, one month apart with 1-2 treatments annually for maintenance.

Microneedling Booster: PRFM is a wonderful complement to microneedling. It enhances your results, boosts collagen, and helps speed up healing for a radiant, healthy glow. 3-6 treatments are recommended, spaced 4-6 weeks apart.

Hair restoration: Supports hair restoration by encouraging healthier, stronger strands. PRFM also works beautifully as a complement to other hair loss treatments—such as after a hair transplant or alongside topical or oral therapies like minoxidil and finasteride. 3-4 treatments recommended annually, or a customized series recommended by your JECT provider.

Natural Filler Alternative: Instead of adding volume with gel filler, PRFM stimulates your own collagen and elastin. It is wonderful for patients who want subtle, natural changes, especially in delicate areas like under the eyes. While it won’t provide large volume enhancements, it will increase vascularity and improve the skin quality wherever it is injected, and the possibilities are endless.

Acne Scars: When injected after scar subcision, PRFM can help remodel collagen and improve the texture of acne scars over time.

PRP and PRFM are available at all JECT locations. Book a treatment or consultation with a JECT provider to experience the healing power of your own growth factors!
