Exosomes are quickly becoming one of the most exciting innovations in aesthetic medicine. Learn how they reduce wrinkles, calm redness, boost glow, and enhance results from treatments like microneedling and lasers.

What are exosomes, and how are they used in aesthetics?

Exosomes are microscopic-sized vesicles that act as messengers to transfer information between cells. As we progress through life, the skin’s renewal process slows down, as well as its production of structural proteins, such as collagen and elastin. Exosomes can deliver various nutrients to the skin cells, including antioxidants and peptides, which slows the aging process from within the cells themselves.

The use of exosomes can improve the appearance of hyperpigmentation, redness, rosacea, fine lines and wrinkles, and overall increase skin’s luminosity and glow.

Why are exosomes gaining popularity now?

The aesthetics industry is evolving from a reactionary approach to a preventative one! Incorporating preventative treatments early on can decrease the need for as many services in the future. As such, regenerative products, such as (Plated) exosomes are a key factor in reversing the aging process from the cellular level. Exosomes help the skin’s cells maintain a youthful appearance and enhance the results of aesthetic treatments such as microneedling, lasers and injectables.

What exosomes do you carry at JECT?

We carry (Plated), a brand of platelet-derived exosomes. Once-daily use of the Plated Intense Serum can transform the skin from the inside out to decrease fine lines and wrinkles, improve rosacea and hyperpigmentation, increase collagen and elastin production, and improve overall skin quality and glow.

This serum can also be used the day after microneedling and lasers, such as BBL and Moxi, to increase efficacy of the treatment and decrease downtime. Exosomes also contain a high concentration of growth factors and act as an anti-inflammatory, which is key in skin concerns such as rosacea!

We also recommend (Plated) Hair Serum to use as an adjunct to PRFM scalp treatments for hair regeneration. This serum creates a nutrient-dense environment for hair follicles to heal and improve thickness, volume and density of the hair. It also delivers antioxidants, phosphoproteins and peptides to the hair, resulting in less breakage and increased hydration of the scalp.

How do you recommend your clients to use exosomes at home?

We recommend applying 1-2 pumps of (Plated) Intense Serum to clean and dry skin five minutes before applying the remainder of your skincare routine. This product can be applied to the face, neck and decollete and is recommended for daily use. It also can enhance results from procedures such as microneedling and lasers, and is generally safe to use starting the day after the procedure (always discuss post-procedural products with your healthcare practitioner before use!).

The (Plated) Hair Serum can also be used daily. We recommend one full dropper, applied directly to the scalp with focus on areas of thinning. Massaging for a minute or two can aid in absorption.
